When You Arrive at Fest
The first thing you will do is go to Volunteer Headquarters. You will check in and be given a wristband and your badge. You will need to show some ID, like your drivers license. You will also fill out a form with your contact info and your preferred person to contact in case of emergency. You cannot get into the Camping area without your wristlet and/or badge. During fest, keep your badge in a safe place when you’re not wearing it! Keep your wristlet on throughout fest.
It is best to arrive a day before you begin work. It takes a while to go through the process of settling your camp in the campground: You can bring your car to Volunteers Headquarters, which is down the driveway at 1285 Clemmers Mill Road. Parking and Camping Volunteers will be there to give you directions. Drive slowly so you don’t kick up too much dust. Cars will be parked temporarily at the Volunteers Hut while you get your credentials. You will get your badge and wristlet there.
After you have your wristlet and badge and have checked in at Volunteers, on Monday and Tuesday, unless there has been rain, you may be allowed to drive your gear to your camping spot. You can drop your gear where you will be camping, but your car cannot remain in the campground for long. Beginning on Wednesday, you will not be allowed to drive into the campground. You can drop your gear near the Camping Gate. There are shuttles that will drive your gear in for you to drop near your campsite. Alternatively, you can carry your gear in by yourself, provided that you have your wristband and badge.
This process will take you some time. You’ll want to set up your tent or park your RV and rest up before your first work assignment. That’s why arriving the day before you start work is the best plan. You should bring some food and supplies, since the Volunteer Food Tent does not open until Thursday morning for breakfast. Starting Wednesday, there will be food vendors open in the campgrounds. Beginning Wednesday at 6 p.m., you can purchase food in the campground.
Please arrive at your work assignments rested and ready to work. On Tuesday at noon, we will build drum risers and Supervisors will have a meeting. On Wednesday, Curtain Crew will meet at 12 noon on Main Stage to hang curtains on 4 stages. There will be a meeting for Stagehands and a GROUP PHOTO around 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon. All Production volunteers on site are invited to come for the photo on Main Stage around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14th.
On Thursday, Stagehands will work all day setting up sound systems. Please arrive ready to work at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning! Main Stage and Camp Stage will be set up first, and in the afternoon one group will set up Lobby Stage and Culture Tent, and the other group will set up Tank and Craft.
