Gate Crew Job Description
Gate Crew monitors traffic between backstage Main Stage and backstage Camp Stage. It is the only way we can move performers with their instruments and equipment to Camp Stage for their performances. It’s an easy and enjoyable job, but it is vitally important! We could not run Camp Stage without it.
The requirements for this job are strong legs for walking, being on time for your shifts, and a friendly demeanor. We welcome Volunteens or other first-time Fest volunteers.
Gate Crew works Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during performances on Camp Stage. The shifts begin an hour before performances are scheduled and finish after the stage is finished and all vehicles have arrived back behind Main Stage. Make sure all gates are locked before you leave the backstage area.

The Perkiomen Trail is a County Access Road used for walking, hiking, running, bicycling, dog walking, horseback riding, and all recreational use. No vehicles are allowed on this trail! That’s why we need the special ordinance for our vehicles. The Trail connects Main Stage and Camp Stage, and is vital to our operations of both stages. There is no other way to get vehicles to Camp Stage and back; Dulcimer Grove has too much . Festival has been granted a special ordinance in order to use the trail for vehicles.
We are required by a County Ordinance to have a walker in front of and behind each and every festival vehicle using the Trail. Our Festival has been granted permission by Upper Salford Township to use the trail for vehicles if we comply with this requirement without exception.
It is vital that we continue to be allowed to use the Trail for vehicles.
Every festival vehicle must have a walker in front and a walker behind.
Gate Crew works Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during programming on Camp Stage..
Many vehicles use the Trail during Fest carrying performers and their equipment, including gators and golf carts, small trucks and wagons from Central Control, and performers’ vans as well. Gate Crew escorts every vehicle, with a walker in front and a walker behind, between Camp Stage and Main Stage during all programming hours on Thursday night, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, during, and after the Thursday evening performance and during the Workshops on Camp Stage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Additionally, the Township of Upper Salford allows us to park trailers and buses for the bands in their municipal lot, which is just across the Trail from Main Stage. The performers come back and forth through the gate during the day and during the evening concerts. Gate crew opens and closes the gate for them.
Traffic is sporadic, and there are times when the crew is sitting waiting for the next vehicle. You can bring a book or something to do during those times.
Gate Crew is an easy and enjoyable job, but it is vitally important!
